General Information

Information, especially remote sensing, that provides monitoring of own territory becomes the one of the most important strategic resource. In a today’s world the greatest economical and social success comes to those countries that actively use modern communication instruments and computer networks, information technologies and information management systems.

According to experts’ conclusions of the Russian Federal Space programme it is prognosed an essential increase of requirement in social-economical filed, science and international collaboration in the Space instruments and services.

Ecological monitoring (environmental monitoring) on the basis of instruments of Earth remote sensing (ERS) from Space - involves precise analysis of impact of different nature and anthropogenic factors to the environment. The most important science task in this case is investigation and creation of software and hardware instruments for qualitatively changing satellite information calibration, methods and algorithms of surface and atmosphere reconstruction. Data obtained during research work will let not only to understand reasons of environment changing, but also to make a forecast of further developing.

The difficulty of adaptation of new technology of complex ERS data processing and access restrictions to corresponding software make deep information processing unavailable for common user. The variety of products obtained, their dependency from goals and processing methods does not allow to satisfy users requests to the full – even in large government centers of USA and Europe.

The defined tendency in solution for the problem is an organisation of network collaboration and computer network processing services. Modern global information systems such as EOSDIS (USA) и EoPortal (EU) are already include functions of data processing technology selection and customization by request.

Usage of satellite data located on the popular web-services and direct satellite imagery has become an integral part of the educational process. Centers for receiving and processing of satellite data are created and successfully function in many countries, particularly in universities.

Last years the cost of satellite data used to organize systems of Space monitoring is steadily decreasing. Meantime due to different organisation and technical reasons many perspective and needed projects that helps in support and stable developing of APEC economics does not even move from research to implementation stage.

Accelerated development of high technologies of Space imagery data utilization will contribute the transition to innovative developing of economy, solving the problems of social construction and public administration, increasing of competitive ability of information services at the domestic and international markets.

The Aim of the Conference

Fostering international cooperation by discussion of new findings and problems in development and application of remote sensing data for the environment research and control in the Asia – Pacific Region.

English and Russian.

Topics of the Conference

  1. Remote sensing and monitoring of natural and man-caused disasters (tropical, extratropical, and polar cyclones, heavy rains, floods, oil pollution, harmful algal bloom, earthquakes, forest fires, volcanic eruptions, dust storms).

  2. Remote sensing applications in oceanography, meteorology, climate, land cover & land use studies, environment monitoring, and geology.

  3. Transboundary transport of air and water pollutants: detection and monitoring of anthropogenic and natural pollutants.

  4. Technologies of remote sensing data acquisition, archiving, automatic processing, and delivery; problems of data calibration and validation.

  5. GIS-technologies and GPS/GLONASS navigation for environment monitoring and rational environment management.

There is no registration fee for the Conference. Social program including banquet and a one-day sea cruise in Peter the
Great Bay is charged by USD 60. It should be paid at the Conference.
